How to use Poly Nail Gel
Clear poly nail gel combines the strength of acrylic with the easy handling of gel. It does not self-level, so you can shape it with a brush and slip solution exactly where you want it.
What you need
- GEL PARTY Clear Poly Nail Gel 60 g
- Dual forms or nail forms
- Slip solution (or alcohol)
- Poly gel brush/spatula
- Base coat and top coat
- UV/LED lamp
- 100/180 file
Step by step
Prep the natural nail
Push back the cuticles, remove any non-living tissue from the nail plate, then lightly buff away the shine with a 180-grit file. Brush off all dust.
Dehydrate
Wipe each nail with a lint-free pad and alcohol or a nail dehydrator. Do not touch the nail plate after this step; skin oils cause lifting.
Apply base coat
Apply a thin layer of base coat and cure.
Place the poly gel
Squeeze a pea-sized amount onto the nail or into a dual form.
Shape with slip solution
Dip the brush in slip solution, remove excess liquid, and pat and push the poly gel into shape. Keep it thin near the cuticle and build the apex in the center.
Cure
Cure in an LED lamp for about 60 seconds or a UV lamp for about 120 seconds. Cure times vary by lamp wattage, so follow your lamp’s guide. If using dual forms, press the form on at a 45° angle, clean the edges, cure, then pop the form off.
Shape and finish
File the shape, buff the surface smooth and apply top coat. Cure.
Pro tips
- Use as little slip solution as possible; too much weakens the gel.
- Clean the tube nozzle after use and close it tightly.
- Crystal clear finish is ideal for encapsulating flowers, glitter and gems.
Avoid
- Do not over-wet the brush.
- Do not leave poly gel touching the cuticle before curing.
Removal & aftercare
File the product down with a 100/180 file or an e-file, leaving a thin layer over the natural nail. Remaining product can be soaked off or left as a base for the next set. Finish with cuticle oil.
