How to use Rubber Base Gel
Rubber base gel is a thicker, flexible base that levels itself into a smooth apex. Use it alone for a natural cover, as a strengthening overlay on thin nails, or as a base under color. Each Dream Series set contains six sheer and milky nude and pink shades.
What you need
- GEL PARTY Rubber Base Gel set
- No-wipe top coat
- UV/LED lamp
- 180-grit file
- Lint-free wipes
Step by step
Prep the natural nail
Push back the cuticles, remove any non-living tissue from the nail plate, then lightly buff away the shine with a 180-grit file. Brush off all dust.
Dehydrate
Wipe each nail with a lint-free pad and alcohol or a nail dehydrator. Do not touch the nail plate after this step; skin oils cause lifting.
Scrub in a thin layer
Rub a very thin layer of rubber base into the nail plate and cure. Cure in an LED lamp for about 60 seconds or a UV lamp for about 120 seconds. Cure times vary by lamp wattage, so follow your lamp’s guide.
Build the apex
Apply a second, thicker layer: place a bead in the center, guide it toward the sidewalls and free edge, and let it self-level for a few seconds.
Cure
Cure fully. Wipe the sticky layer if needed and lightly refine the shape.
Finish
Wear the sheer shade alone with top coat, or apply gel color on top. Seal with no-wipe top coat and cure.
Pro tips
- Choose a sheer shade for a natural look or a milky shade for a soft French base.
- Two layers are usually enough for strength and coverage.
- Turn the hand upside down for a few seconds to help the apex form.
Avoid
- Do not flood the cuticles.
- Do not apply a thick layer in one step; it can cure unevenly.
Removal & aftercare
File away the top coat to break the seal. Wrap each nail in a cotton pad soaked in acetone (or apply a soak-off gel remover) for 10–15 minutes, then gently push the softened gel off with a cuticle pusher. Never peel or pry gel off the natural nail. Finish with cuticle oil.
